ColdFusion: Cumulative Hot Fix Installs

Related Categories: Best Practices, ColdFusion

When applying a Cumulative Hot Fix (CHF) please RTFM and ensure you have the correct base install first. I have seen a couple of instances where customers have applied CHF7020002 to a CFMX7.0 or 7.01 install. You must have the correct version/build of CF installed for the CHF.

If you're in a situation where you mistakenly applied the incorrect CHF (or any other hot fix for that matter) to CFMX7.x and higher, simply stop the server, and remove the jar from the cf_root/lib/updates folder.

ColdFusion: Disaster Recovery Installs

Related Categories: Best Practices, ColdFusion

If you find you need to reinstall your current ColdFusion servers, avoid using your CDs. If there is an updater released it will not be on the CD. Best practice for reinstalling is to download the latest installer (e.g. CFMX6.1 Updater, CFMX 7.0.2, or CF8) from Adobe.com, then install the necessary hot fixes (including the latest cumulative hot fixes).
