Tribute to my big cuz

We're mourning the lost of my big cuz today -- Elige "EG" Hannah. He was taken from us in a car accident in Portugal yesterday. He was the oldest of three boys. They are my 3rd cousins who I spent most of my summers with in South Bend, IN. I haven't seen EG since I was in high school -- almost 20 years ago. I haven't met his family. You always hear a tragic story around the holidays of a wife and child who's spirit is ruined by the sudden absence of a husband and father -- you just never expect it to be in your family. Thank God, my family's all here with me including my mom and mother-in-law, and my oldest daughter's flying home on Monday.

So if you're reading this -- blaze one, light one, and pour out some for all of your dearly departed, and hold close to your breast the ones you have left. Time is too short, make it a point to reach out....

Update: EG's services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008 in Taunton, MA. You can view his obituary here at the O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Home web site. You will find a Condolences link on this page.
