From the bowels of Mother Africa- I emerge
the Son of Man
Lamb of God...
I am the Alpha
I am King and warrior...
from my loins loom
great champions of truth & civil justice
I am the provider
my blood, sweat & tears fertilized cash crops
the builder of great nations--
my fingerprints are etched in great monuments
I am the hunted...
my sable skin-
valued for its rarity;
my ebony hide-
idolized for its beauty;
the prized quarry-
I am likened unto a savage beast
I am the martyred...
my blood spilled
staining the streets of a Colonial town--
when it was washed away
there stood a declaration of Independence
y blood again spilled
in a NYC ballroom,
in a Memphis hotel,
on a LA highway--
I set the world on fire!
For they shackled the King
beat me like chattel
gave me a mock emancipation
to march to their drum.
But I am the Drum Major
ergo, the tune will change
I walk with an even tempo sway...
such confidence in my stride-
suave is my nonchalant gait
a debonair demeanor
befitting my aristocracy, you see
my arrogance is the birthmark of my being, for--
I am urbane
A gift from the ever loving Father
majestic creature of Mother Nature
the earth's supernal treasure
I am the Omega--
embrace the living legacy...
